A Lovestruck Romeo...

A love-struck Romeo sings the streets a serenade
Laying everybody low with a love song that he made.
Finds a streetlight, steps out of the shade
Says something like, "You and me babe, how about it?"

Juliet says, "Hey, it's Romeo, you nearly gave me a heart attack!"
He's underneath the window, she's singing, "Hey la, my boyfriend's back.
You shouldn't come around here singing up to people like that...
Anyway, what you gonna do about it?"

Juliet, the dice was loaded from the start
And I bet when you exploded into my heart
And I forget I forget the movie song.
When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong, Juliet?

Come up on different streets, they're both the streets of shame.
Both dirty, both mean, yes, in the dream it was just the same
And I dreamed your dream for you and now your dream is real.
How can you look at me as if I was just another one of your deals?

When you can fall for chains of silver,
You can fall for chains of gold,
You can fall for pretty strangers
And the promises they hold.
You promised me everything, you promised me thick and thin, yeah!
Now you just say, "Oh Romeo? Yeah, you know I used to have a scene with him".

Juliet, when we made love, you used to cry.
You said, "I love you like the stars above, I'll love you 'til I die".
There's a place for us, you know the movie song.
When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong, Juliet?

I can't do the talk, like the talk on TV
And I can't do a love song, like the way it's meant to be.
I can't do everything, but I'll do anything for you.
I can't do anything, 'cept be in love with you!
And all I do is miss you and the way we used to be.
All I do is keep the beat... and bad company.
Now all I do is kiss you through the bars of a rhyme,
Juliet, I'd do the stars with you any time!

Juliet, when we made love you used to cry.
You said, "I love you like the stars above, I'll love you 'til I die".
There's a place for us, you know the movie song.
When you gonna realize it was just that the time was wrong, Juliet?

And a love-struck Romeo sings the streets a serenade
Laying everybody low with a lovesong that he made
Finds a convenient streetlight, steps out of the shade
He says something like, "You and me babe, how about it?"

You and me babe, how about it?

  1. Hey there, Romeo,

So this is how it goes: I'm busy sending southern kisses from my boudoir. You're going to have to take a number and wait until it is called. And to add to the confusion, I've got some mule demanding a duel at sunrise. I don't DO sunrises!! Nevertheless, I am certain my bosom alone will slay her. She's merely a fly in my make-up.

Relax. Enjoy the video. Have a drink and soon it will be all about you and me babe .... just You AND Me!

  2. What can I say, Juliette?

Though I'm flattered and all, I have to say that the Mule and I go back a long ways. I think you may have misread my intentions. Please, have a mint julep upon me, and call off the duel..

Um. You ever see that video by Sugarland?

    It's not you is it?

  3. Romeo, ohh Romeo,

I think you've been trapped in the back pasture long enough with that dirty red mule. A man like you deserves a more ...refined companion. I'm happy just to flirt with you now and then...

As for the video, that's Mary Lou. She's my first cousin on my father's side. They are a bit loopy if you know what I mean.

I'll gladly accept that mint julep. Nice of you to rein in the mule. A girl like me needs her beauty sleep.

I'll be waiting here in my boudoir for you to stop by and just chit-chat with me. I promise I don't bite ...;)

  4. I can't rein in the Mule, I can only try to persuade her.

She's kinda headstrong. Breaks reins. Bites, Kicks, Fights, holds grudges, a wonderful friend but a dangerous enemy.

She can pretend to be refined too.

I wouldn't want you to get hurt, Juliette, over a feller like me.

  5. Romeo, sweet Romeo,

Apparently your mule was never properly 'broken in'... I'm afraid she's probably a bit too 'long in the tooth' for any gentling at this stage. Why not just let her out to pasture, Romeo?

I do appreciate your concern for my well being. You're such a sweet, sweet man. When you get tired of all those bites and kicks, you're more than welcome to sidle my way.

A red dirt tussle is of little concern to me. Your mule talks large but trots small. Now let me go slip into something more comfortable, and we can continue this chat in private.
