Actually, it would be cool, we could have a little section renamed Bloggertown.
Max:Problem is that there are a fairly infinite number of places in the world I could fall for as a place to settle. I really enjoyed Mariehamn, a little town on an island in the middle of the Baltic, I kinda like Stromness in the Orkneys, or maybe somewhere on the west coast of Scotland, or Whitby in North Yorkshire, or somewhere in the Gower, South Wales.
I always wanted to live in Australia... There's a town there I saw in a movie... Or, or, or,.... so, Bastrop looks pretty good to me.
I'd like to roam all over north america, doing the enormous roadtrip, but I'll never be able to afford that. Actually, I'd like to live in the 1950s, but with better medicines.
New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona....
But then what of the sea? I love the sea, maybe the Carolinas?
See? too much choice just confuses me and makes it all so much more difficult.

Pictures? I didn't take enough really. Too busy just enjoying the world.
But there are more, coming soon.

Bulletholes: The car guys just win every prize. I can't thank them enough.
There are potters and plumbers there already, but one more can't harm, surely?soubriquethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01151288534629885195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7555664269648250473.post-4658004002609877222012-05-07T10:29:42.387-05:002012-05-07T10:29:42.387-05:00I had to hold my breath hoping someone would help ...I had to hold my breath hoping someone would help you with the car. I'd have to say tha...Oh yes, Bastrop is great. I'd have to say that it is the first Texas town that I have ever entertained the idea of living in for say, the rest of my life. For the most part, Texas has been a temporary (albeit 12 yrs plus and going) stop on the railroad of my life. And Soub forgot to mention the great railroad that slices through near the historic district. We heard a train whistle at 6pm on the dot and tried to make plans to watch the next day ....oh well. We did see a very cute fixer upper home right next to the track for sale. Could I live with a railroad track in my front yard ???

The people really made the place. Warm, friendly and generous. It's a popular town for movie makers (has that picturesque old downtown look and a gorgeous historic homes district) and apparently aging rockers. Larry Wilson was a gem. It was the ukulele with its very own "mini-amp" that Larry demonstrated for us - my mulette has been pining for a uke.

The chocolate dipped coconut macaroons at the Olde World Bakery were TO DIE FOR!! And I am certain they had a hand in my 5 pound weight gain during Soub's visit. The sweet young man singing his heart out for us was Bruce Frasier. Go friend him on Facebook and tell him the British guy sent you. He'll remember.

I can't say enough about the guys at Need for Speed mechanics. I think the owner's name is Danny, but I'll have to check my receipt to make certain. I was impressed that Soub diagnosed the problem quickly and accurately. (I was terrified that I might run over him in the pull off as he made me drive the car back and forth)! The fact that Danny was willing to help a pair of 'travelers' out on a Friday night was beyond just 'doing a good deed'. I'm going to have to write them a thank you card.

Yep. I can see us hanging out on the porch at Larry's listening to the locals pick and play.... maybe heading over to the microbrewery for a pint for Soub (me, I can't handle the hard stuff), strolling through the town on a breezy spring night. Soub forgot to mention the locally made Bluebell Ice Cream at the oldest, still working, pharmacy (Lock's) and soda fountain counter in Texas on Main Street. We also stopped in at a great used book store that sold coffees, tea and sweets in the back corner .... Bastrop just feels ..... good.

xxxred dirt girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12939283533222061484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7555664269648250473.post-21228585612205633402012-05-04T16:18:06.605-05:002012-05-04T16:18:06.605-05:00sounds good....sounds good....gzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08034777779347889773noreply@blogger.com
